How to Configure McAfee Firewall


For best results McAfee firewall must be configured to allow Logic Server to communicate with Slideshow Remote.

If the firewall is not properly configured you could encounter the following problems:

  • Your device doesn't appear in the Devices List
  • Automatic and manual connection modes fail
  • Error "Unable to connect to Logic Server"
  • Send error 10054
  • Connect error 10061

Select your version of McAfee and follow these steps:

McAfee Internet Security

  1. Double-click on McAfee "M" icon in the system tray.
  2. Select Firewall on left and Parameters on right.
  3. Select Program Permissions.
  4. Find the Logic Server in the list.
  5. Verify if it's the latest version number.
  6. If present click Modify. Otherwise click Add and browse to Logic Server (by default c:\Program Files\LogicInMind\Logic Server\LogicServer.exe).
  7. Select "Full Access" in the program permissions (not "block", not "Outbound").
  8. Click Save.
  9. Apply the same settings to Bonjour Service (c:\Program Files\Bonjour\mdnsresponder.exe).
  10. Select Ports and services permissions.
  11. Click Add and enter:
    • Service: MDNS
    • Category: System Ports
    • Description: Bonjour for Windows
    • UDP Port: 5353
    • Click Save.
    • Activate the check box before MDNS.
  12. Click Add and enter:
    • Service: HTTP
    • Category: System Ports
    • Description: HTTP Web server port
    • TCP Port: Logic Server TCP port (default is 8080)
    • Click Save.
    • Activate the check box before HTTP.
  13. Restat your computer.

McAfee SecurityCenter

  1. Double-click on McAfee "M" icon in the system tray.
  2. Select Internet and Network.
  3. Click Configure under "To change your options, click Configure below".
  4. Click Firewall Protection.
  5. Click Advanced...
  6. Select Program Permissions on left.
  7. Find Logic Server in the list.
  8. Verify if it's the latest version number.
  9. If present click Change Action. Otherwise click Add Allowed Program.
  10. Enter or select Logic Server in the list.
  11. Click Open.
  12. Select "Grant Full Access" (not "Outbound-Only Access").
  13. Click OK.
  14. Apply the same settings to Bonjour Service (c:\Program Files\Bonjour\mdnsresponder.exe).
  15. Restat your computer.

McAfee Personal Firewall Plus

  1. Double-click on McAfee icon in the system tray.
  2. Select Personal Firewall Plus.
  3. Select View the Internet Application List.
  4. Find Logic Server in the list.
  5. Verify if it's the latest version number.
  6. If present present select it. Otherwise click New Allowed Application and browse to Logic Server (by default c:\Program Files\LogicInMind\Logic Server\LogicServer.exe).
  7. Select "Allow Full Access" under "Change Permission To…".
  8. Click OK.
  9. Apply the same settings to Bonjour Service (c:\Program Files\Bonjour\mdnsresponder.exe).
  10. Restat your computer.

McAfee VirusScan Enterprise and Desktop Firewall 8.5

  1. Start McAfee Desktop Firewall with Start > Program > McAfee Desktop Firewall > McAfee Desktop Firewall.
  2. Start Logic Server.
  3. If McAfee Desktop Firewall alert shows up, click Allow.
  4. Double-click on the new Logic Server rule and enter:
    • Description: Logic Server
    • Program: browse to Logic Server (by default c:\Program Files\LogicInMind\Logic Server\LogicServer.exe).
    • Action: Permit
    • Protocol: IP TCP
    • Direction: Either
    • Local service: Single / enter Logic Server TCP port.
    • Remote service: range 1 - 65535
    • Address: Any
    • Active: checked.
    • Click OK.
  5. Apply the same settings to Bonjour Service (c:\Program Files\Bonjour\mdnsresponder.exe) with UDP port 5353.
  6. Restat your computer.
